"It was nice growing up with someone like you - someone to lean on, someone to count on... someone to tell on!"  ~Author Unknown

Some of these "memories" truly are just memories as I write them, so I don't always have a date, but they are fun to post about nonetheless!

Spring 2009
Elijah was about 8 months old and sitting up pretty well. I took them both to Kroger (where they have large 2 seats buggy's) and I sat them each in a seat. I was very confident in their behavior since I had brought lots of snacks!! So, first on my list as they begin to get antsy is I pulled out the Pepperidge Farm goldfish! I brought a big bowl and was so excited that they sat side by side now so I put it right in the middle of them. I thought, "This is great! They can just reach in and get whatever they want! This will keep them happy for a while!" Yep.. bad idea! As Lydia begins to get mad because Elijah is stuffing his mouth FULL of goldfish and she's not getting as many... Elijah is getting angry that Lydia is beginning to block his hands from getting more fish! So, it began! Then, before I knew it, they each grabbed one side of the bowl and began playing tug-o-war! They're sitting right next to eachother, each of them screaming at the top of their lungs, while pulling with all of their might on this ziplock bowl full of goldfish. I'm holding on to the middle of the bowl and pleading (as quietly as I possibly can) with them to please LET GO of the bowl! So, that's exactly what my sweet little obedient Lydia did (*wink*). However, as she let go.. Elijah decided to pull very hard at that moment and the big bowl of goldfish went ALL over the aisle! They were EVERYWHERE!! Then, as I stood there helplessly wondering what to do and near the point of tears in defeat.. a man turns the corner with his one little boy who was around 3 and they're having a great time together as his son is being so happy and so good. He looks at me, the goldfish, and me again and then just bursts out laughing. I looked at him and said, "You're right! That's all you can do in this moment.. is laugh!" So, then I threaten my sweet, beautiful children with their lives, get down on my knees, and one by one I pick up all the goldfish! Needless to say, by the end of our shopping trip.. I was in desperate need of a nap!

Memory: Spring 2009
Lydia was potty training and 2 years old. She told us she needed to go potty. She said down on her little potty and looked down, grabbed her thighs, and exclaims, "Come on poo poo! Where are you?"

April 2010
Just a few days later I took the kids with me to the grocery store and I had put some yogurt in our buggy. Elijah reaches back and grabs one. I am not really watching him as he punctures the aluminum top with his sharp little teeth! Then, he proceeds to start sucking the yogurt out of the top of it!! Lydia looks over and says (once again), "Oh Butter! That's so embarrasin'" They truly crack me up!

5/2/10
Today I was putting on my makeup for church when Lydia came in and was pretending to talk on her pretend cellphone. I asked her who she was talking to and she said, "Santa Claus!" I asked her what he said and she told me, "that thing he flies with and Santa are on top of a volcano and a bear is going to get him." I said, "Oh no!" and she replied, "Mom! We need to help them!" So I told her we could pray for them and Jesus will protect them and she really liked that idea!

5/3/10
There's been alot of flooding in Nashville, TN this weekend. Kimber (my twin sister) lives there. She called me this morning and I asked her if she was okay and then Elijah replied, "Yeah!"

5/19/10
Lydia & Elijah were outside playing on our patio. I was inside feeding Carly (a little girl that I kept for about a year.) Lydia ran in to tell me that there's a snake outside! I put Carly down and ran outside. I looked around and then I asked her where it was and she pointed down and said, "Look! A snake!" I looked down and it was a huge earthworm.

5/21/10
My sister (the kids call her Honey) came in to town for a few days and spent 2 days with us. She went in to the bathroom to blow dry her hair after her shower and Lydia followed her in the bathroom. Kimber turned her head over to start drying her hair and Lydia sat down on the floor and looked up at her (under her hair). Kimber asked her, "Lydia, when you grow up what do you want to do?" Kimber was meaning.. do you want to be a teacher, a mommy, or doctor. Lydia answered, "When I grow up I want to ride the ferris wheel at the mall!" There has been a carnival in town and they have been set up at the mall. I told Lydia she couldn't ride it because I didn't know how safe it was. In her mind, she must have thought it was because she was too little.

6/13/10
When we pray at night with Lydia and Elijah (who are 3 & 1) we always ask them if there is anyone we can pray for or thank God for? Elijah quickly answered this night, "Yah!" He says it as if he's Canadian. We ask him who he wants to pray for and he says, "Checha!" and I ask him, "Jesus?" and he shook his head no and says, "No, Checha" So I thought for a minute and said, "Teacher?" and he got SO excited and "Yah!!" So we asked him, "Your Sunday School teachers, Mr Frank and Ms Lynn?" and he got so excited and said, "Yah!!" It really was touching to us that he loves his Sunday School teachers so much and wanted to thank God for them at only 21 months old!

June 24, 2010
Elijah had been observing Lydia using the potty! I was in the process of changing Carly's diaper (a little girl I babysat for a while) and suddenly I hear, "Elp! Momma! Elp!" So I know it's Elijah and I say, "What's wrong Eli?" and he repeats himself. So, I quickly finish up with Carly and head to the bathroom-- where Eli's voice is coming from. Usually, Lydia will put a small potty seat on the toilet to keep from falling in. Eli, however, didn't know that and though he tried to sit on the toilet... well.. he fell in! So there he sat, like an upside down turtle waving his arms and legs and is bottom deep in the toilet water! All the while he's continuing to shout, "Elp! Momma! Elp!" Needless to say, it was hysterical and thankfully it didn't scare him!

7/5/10
Elijah is 22 mos old and was in our bathroom playing while I brushed Lydia's  teeth on our bed. All of the sudden, I hear Andy's electric shaver turn on. I finish quickly with Lydia and go check on him. He is standing in front of the mirror, on a step stool, shaving his face!

7/8/10
It is 9pm at our home (bedtime is at 8) and Lydia is sitting on our stairs. I ask, "Lydia, why are you awake?" She replies, "Mommy, I'm hungry." So I tell her, "We already had dinner and you can have breakfast in the morning." She continues to claim how hungry she is and I continue to tell her it's not time for eating. So finally she says, "Mom, I'm sweating my pants out of me and I need a drink of water!" Crack me up-- She will think of anything to get out of bedtime!

7/26/10
Lydia had to go to Children's Hospital for an MRI. She had to be sedated which meant no food all day until her appointment at 1:00 pm. I kept her up late the night before so she could sleep in and have less time of no eating. I got up the next morning, got ready, and then went out to water my flowers since she was still asleep. When I came back in, she had woke up and smiled so big at me and then showed me a big bowl of blueberries she had gotten for herself! She popped one in her mouth and said, "Look Mommy! Blueberries!" I told her she couldn't eat anything and so then I called MRI at Children's. They, unfortunately, had to reschedule her appointment til 3pm. She had told me she only ate 3 blueberries.. poor girl lost 2 more hours of eating over 3 blueberries!

While we were there at Children's and had just woken up from Anesthesia and was telling the nurse something. He kept saying he couldn't hear her (as we were walking in to the room.) So, I walked over to her and she says, "I tell the doctor I need a bandaid because my arm is bleeded." When they had taken the IV out of her arm it had bled a little while she was waking up. So cute.

Aug 2010
Even though it's the dead of Summer... we watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" because Lydia really wanted to watch it!

I have been working with Eli on the potty. We just began a couple of days ago. Eli is almost 2 and is beginning to exert his voice (and his temper!) When he was crying at the table last night while we were eating, Lydia said, "Shhh! Eli... It's okay!" and he yelled back at her, "NO!! Tsitsy (Trying to say Sissy)!!." Sadly, it was hysterical!

I was changing Elijah's diaper when he rolled over, hopped up, and ran off into the kitchen. Lydia was laughing at him but she kept playing with her toys. I was chasing after him and as I get in to the kitchen he's leaning over he's very exaggerated as he says, "Uh oh!" and "Oh no!" I asked him, "What's wrong?" and he points to his toes. I get to him and look down to realize he had peed on himself. Lydia comes running in to the kitchen and asks what happened. I told her he accidentally peed on himself, but he's okay. She replied, "Oh Butter! (She's trying to say Brother) that's SO embarrassin'" Then she turns around and walk out of the kitchen and went right back to playing with her toys!

He calls milk, "nope". We don't understand why. Today, I got some milk out and he said, "I have nope pea" which meant, "I want some milk please." However, it sounded like "I have no pee."

We were sitting down and eating dinner. Elijah starts loudly singing. We try to quieten him down and Lydia says, "He's just trying to be cute like me!"

Lydia and I went to Splash Country by ourselves today and had so much fun!  As we were leaving they asked if we would be coming back. If you plan to come back they stamp your hand. I told them we wouldn't be coming back, but could Lydia still have a stamp? They gave her two and she said, "It's because I'm such a good girl!"

A few days after Elijah turned 2 we were all sitting on the couch. He looks at me, lays his head over on my shoulder, and says, "I luh loo." He absolutely melted my heart! It's so tender when your baby looks at you and tells you he loves you for the first time all on his own!

Summer 2010
We spent alot of time at Splash Country this Summer and really enjoyed ourselves. We took a friend of Lydia's at one point who kept saying, "We're going to the beach!" Elijah was just really learning how to talk and so as we were walking in and throughout our day there at Splash Country Eli yells out, "The Beach, The Beach!" As he is pointing around. HOWEVER, when Elijah was saying "Beach" it didn't sound like "Beach"....  It sounded much more like a bad name for a woman. It was kind of embarrassing!

Tonight, I was bathing the kids. I bathed Elijah first and had him out and with his jammies on. Then, I started to bathe Lydia. It wasn't long til Eli was in the bathroom with us. Suddenly, he leaned over toward her and the water to play with the bath toys. I couldn't get to him fast enough before he had toppled in to her bath- head first! He got himself turned around, sat up, and squealed in delight at Lydia. Then he looked at me and burst out laughing more!  Of course, he was soaked from head to toe!

September 2010 (Lydia 3, Elijah 2)

We have been in the process of buying our first "house". 608 Comfort Ave in Maryville. Emotions have been high throughout this process. We went to the real estate office to make our 3rd and final offer for this house. We gathered the kids together to pray for God's will. This is what we prayed, "God if this is what you want for us, then make it happen. If you don't want this for us, then don't make it happen." When we finished praying Lydia walked away and Andy heard her say, "God if you want this house to be my house, then let it be my house. If you don't want it to be my house, then don't let it be my house." It was awesome!! God blessed us with the house and our children both know and understand that it's because God orchestrated it and gave this house to us!

October 2010
We were at Sunnybrook Farm for the Stidham Family Reunion. Lydia, Jillian, and Emma played all weekend and had such a fun time together! At one point I went to get something from Lydia and found her with a pair of scissors! I asked her what she was going to do with them, and then she told me she was going to make her friends' hair look pretty! Oh my!! Emma and Jillian both have hair all the way down their backs!!

I was going to take a shower and the kids were playing so well together! So, I told them I would be back when I finished with my shower. They said, "Ok!" When I finished, I went to check on them and they were both still being really good! So, I told them I was going to blow dry my hair. When I finished, I came out to check on them again and they were being very quiet! So, I went toward Elijah's room and there was water all in the hallway on the floor! Then, I realized the water in the bathroom was running. I peeked in and they had put a tower of bowls and containers in there, turned the water on, and it was nearly overflowing out of the sink! Then, in Eli's room.. there they sat with a bucket filled with water (his floor completely soaked as well as themselves) and they were dunking their toys in the water. I was so mad! They cleaned up the mess... well, helped me anyway and then they stayed in their rooms for an hour afterwards! Now, I make sure they're contained in each of their rooms separately before I take a shower!

1/4/11
Today while the kids were eating lunch we were talking about animals at the Zoo. Lydia was making noises while Elijah tried to copy her and/or decide what animal she was being. So then Lydia makes this little noise, "Eeeh Eeeh" and Elijah replies, "Ooh Ooh Aah Aah! (Being a monkey!)" Lydia says, "Nope Buddy, it's not a monkey but you're close!" Elijah was completely confused and kind of cocked his head and says, "Huh?" Then Lydia explains, "It's a butterfly!"  LOL- not sure how she gathered that a butterfly goes "Eeeh Eeeh" but it was really funny!

1/19/11
Lydia woke up this morning and was telling Elijah and me that she had a dream last night about a munster (her name for a monster). She told me it turned out all of the lights and she couldn't see and it scared her, but she yelled at it and hit it and it went away!  Elijah, sweetly responds, "It's ok Sissy! Jejush tech us!" This is Elijah's way of saying, "Jesus will protect us!" It was so sweet! Then, Lydia replies back to him in a very "duh-like" state, "No, brother! It was just a dream!"

Random post:
With the first big snow we had this season.. in December (2010) there was ice on our front porch steps. I was going to have to go to the grocery store. We were out of eggs, cheese, bread, waffles, oatmeal, milk, etc. You name it, we were out of it and the kids literally had nothing to eat for breakfast! So, Andy went to start my car for me (we were all going to go to the store, actually) and he told me the front steps were slippery and there was ice on them and I would need to jump off the side of the porch. Well, if you know Andy.. sometimes he can be a little dramatic about things. I thought to myself, if he just holds on to the rail, then he'd be just fine! So, we all went out and Andy jumped off and proceeded to take the kids off the porch and not use the steps. Well, I held on to the rail, stepped down on to the step and FLEW in to the air! I fell down 4 concrete steps and really hurt my left hip and my elbow. They both throbbed for over an hour and it bruised me TERRIBLY! In fact, it's been well over a month and I'm still sore from it!  The funny part is.. every time we go anywhere and I go down the steps or climb up the steps the kids yell, very quickly, "Be careful Mommy.. don't fall!"  They were so worried about me and still are. Serves me right, really! Next time, I will listen to my husband! lol

February 2011
Had to laugh tonight at Lydia. I was in the middle of cooking. I was making 2 casseroles and cleaning up our dinner dishes all the while they're both asking me for strawberries. I told them, "Give me just a minute & I'll get them for you." So they waited just a minute, and Lydia again reminded me that she wanted strawberries. So I told her, "I can only do one thing at a time." So she replies, "But you have 2 arms!" So I explained, "I have 2 arms to do 1 thing at a time."  She said, "Well if you had 6 or 7 arms you could do alot more than 1 thing." Hmm.. I wholeheartedly agree!
March 2011
The kids had Awanas tonight. They studied about Heaven and what will be there and what won't be there.  When we got home and right before bedtime Lydia asked me, "Mommy, will there be kangaroos in heaven?" and I said, "Yes, I bet there will be!" and she replied, "Oh goody! I want to ride one!"  Oh, how sweet and funny she is!! A Kangaroo of all things!

This month, we have endured seeing a Tsunami, Earthquakes, and Tornadoes. Lydia and Elijah have been very concerned about the "waters over the moutain" (the tsunami) and have prayed and asked about them constantly. Then, the tornadoes happened and they were very worried about the "tormatoes" and peoples' homes. I feel so blessed to have children who are compassionate for others and their needs.. praying for them and asking for God to help them.

Andy and Lydia began planting our first garden this year! Lydia was very excited to help while Elijah took a nap one afternoon! They had so much fun together!

Elijah is convinced there are "munsters" (monsters) in his room. He will come out, put his hands up to his face in a curled position (like he's imitating a bear) and scrunch up his little nose. He'll say, "That munster's meeeaaann!!"  He will tell us all about the munsters in his room. Sometimes they are funny, sometimes they are scary to him. He often laughs about it as he tells us. He often pretends to "throw them out the window!"  He truly has such an imagination and is so dramatic and animated as he tells us his munster stories! It makes me wonder what Elijah will do as an adult since he is so imaginative!

Elijah will often play at bedtime. As long as he stays in his room, we are fine with this. Well, right before I go to bed I always check on them to make sure they're covered up and sleeping well. One night, as I checked on Elijah.. I found him like this (above)!

Here are
pictures of Lydia and Elijah playing in the rain! They had a BLAST!

Sometimes,
I think we, as mothers, can get so wrapped up in cleaning and worrying about messes, that we forget... playing in the rain can be really refreshing and fun!! They enjoyed it so much! I'm so thankful that God has delivered me from my ideas of perfection and has taught me that messy times are so fun!!

The other night I was putting Elijah (2 1/2 yrs) to bed. As I started to leave, I hugged him tight and kissed him. Then, I said, "Elijah, I love you to pieces!" and he replied, "Mommy, I love you with chicken and fries!" It took me a minute to realize what he was talking about, but then it donned on me. He thought I said, "I love you to pizzas". It's been about a week, and he still tells me he loves me with chicken & fries, macaroni & cheese, juice, and other things.

We rented and watched a new princess movie about Rapunzel, "Tangled". Lydia dressed up in her princess dress for the movie so she could match Rapunzel. She said, "I wish Buddy had a princess outfit." I told her boys don't wear princess outfits. She replied, "Well, maybe when he turns 4 he can have a prince outfit. One he can step in to.. not go over his head."
~
The kids loved the movie! At the end of it, Elijah said, "Sometimes, I really like the bad guys!" When I put him to bed and asked him what his favorite thing was today he answered, "My tayrit (favorite) thing was the meeeeaaan mom on that movie!" with his little nose scrunched up and his little lips puckered!

Today, Lydia and I were playing Mario on the Wii. We were on a board that involved jumping fish and we both died. I asked her, "Should we try again?"  and she answered, "Sure!" Then she took a deep breath, sighed, and said, "Whew, these fish are expaserating!" LOL! When I asked her what she said (to make sure I heard her right) she said, "These fishies are hard!"  She's so cute!!

We've all been going to the Chiropractor as a family right now.  This is our first week going as a family. Lydia is quite afraid of Dr. John. Elijah, however, is doing great with him. He asked Elijah to sit on the table (Eli won't lay down yet for it) and Dr John felt his neck and with his little "tapper" gun he started "tapping" Elijah's back and neck. After the 1st one, he asked Eli if it hurt and Eli told him no.  However, on the 3rd tap, Elijah yells, "OWWW!" and Dr. John stopped and looked at him and Eli burst out laughing!! We're in trouble if he's playing tricks like this while he's only 2! haha

Lydia and Elijah were playing dressup this morning when Elijah dressed like a dinosaur and Lydia dressed as Superwoman! She then told Eli, "Buddy! You be the dinosaur that destroys the world and I'll be Supergirl who saves it!"

Andy went and bought a little tennis net with 2 tennis rackets made for kids! They love it! Lydia was really hitting the ball well and loved playing! So, I asked her, "Hey Lydia! Would you want to take lessons on playing tennis?" She replied back to me, "Nah, I don't need that. I already know how to play. I don't need any learnin'" LOL-- mind you, she JUST learned how to hit the ball with the racket!

Elijah was playing outside and had a snack with him. He kept laying it in the grass, so Andy took it and put it on top of the deck. When I went outside to watch them he said, "Mommy, Daddy lay my snack right here so the monkeys don't get it." I looked at Andy and he said, "I told him, so the buggies don't get it."

Today is Good Friday! I was telling L & E all about Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for our sins and how when we ask forgiveness we receive eternal life in Heaven with Jesus who rose from the dead. Lydia then said, "Well, one time Daddy runned a red light and he didn't ask forgiveness. Does Daddy not get to go to heaven now?"  So, then I explained to her that we get eternal life when we accept Jesus as our Savior, but we still have to ask forgiveness when we sin. She really made me smile though!

May

It's Friday, May 13th. Lydia is 4 years and 4 months old and tonight, she asked Jesus in to her heart to save her from her sins! She has been lying quite a bit lately. I have been talking with her alot lately about when we lie that it's a sin. Today, at my MOPs meeting we received a track for children. So, Lydia and I read through it a couple of times today. Then, tonight when she lied to me again (usually involving.. washing her hands after using the bathroom) I told her we need to talk about her lying. I explained about Jesus having to die for our sins because we are all sinners. I explained to her that it hurts Jesus when we lie and sin. I told her that when we sin we are separated from God and we can only be with God in Heaven if we ask forgiveness of our sins and ask Jesus to live in our hearts. So I asked her, "Lydia, if you died tonight where do you think you would go?" She asked, "Heaven?" And I said, "Well, you're a sinner and your sin separates you from God. So if you are separated from God then do you think you can go to Heaven?" She then asked me, "Well, how do I get so that I be in Heaven?" So I told her that we have to pray and ask Jesus in to our hearts so that we can go to Heaven if we die. I told her that if we don't have Jesus in our heart and we die, then we have to go to a really bad place called Hell. So I asked her, "Do you want to pray and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins so that you can be forgiven and go to Heaven?" She said yes and my little Lydia who never wants to pray outloud, actually prayed this prayer with me. She held my hand and acknowledged that she's a sinner and asked Jesus to save her. She was a little embarrassed at the attention we gave her, but thought it was neat that we are now sisters in Christ! Andy talked with her a little while after we had prayed together and asked her what she did tonight and she answered, "I asked Jesus in to my heart" and he then asked her why. She replied, "Because of my sin." What a joyful celebration.. God is so good and we are THRILLED that our little girl now has a home in Heaven!!

The next night after Lydia's salvation she was telling Elijah that he needed to get Jesus in his heart or he's going to go to hell.  Out of the mouth of babes, right?!

Today, Andy was mowing the yard and found some of Lydia's Sunday dress shoes out there! So he put them on top of the deck rail. We were eating dinner when she asked, "Hey! What are my shoes outside for Daddy?" And he said, "Well, somebody put them in the sandbox and covered them with sand" and I looked at her (smiling) and said sarcastically, "I wonder who that could have been?!" And she answered.. "They're magic shoes! They just flew out there all by itself and then reached out with a magic arm and covered it in sand!" All while she is stifling such a laughing smirk... she is so creative!

I love how both Lydia & Elijah call airplanes "aeroplanes" and Elijah calls helipcopters "hayocars"

Awanas ended on the last Wed. in May. They have an award's ceremony on this night. Lydia was excited, but as we got there and she had to sit with her class and not me, she was a little more quiet. When they called her name to the front she was THRILLED! She won  a little Cubbie bear for her vest for completing her book. She won a certificate for completing all of the apple trees in her book. She always won the "Miss Sunshine" award for always having a smile on her face and always being so excited to be apart of Cubbies. I made mention of this on Facebook and her teacher saw it.  Miss Casey's reply was this, " she is such a sweet heart! I just had to ask them to make a special award for her! I couldnt stand not giving her special recognition for something. I asked them to give her one for being the most loving or kind and they came up with Miss Sunshine which was perfect for her!!!"  That just makes me so proud of her!

June
The kids LOVE to play tea party. I have a very small tea set that a friend gave us last year for Lydia's birthday. So, we get it out and I will either make tea or hot chocolate. Lydia is Lady Lydia and Eli is Lord Elijah. They will ask for more by saying, "More tea please Madam?" It's so funny.. we have such a great time playing tea party!
Eli went & closed the back door & said, "So the monkeys don't come in." Then I realized he must mean bugs since sometimes I say "buggies" lol.. I was worried we were dealing with a Wizard of Oz moment

Eli is potty training and is doing really well! We are very proud of him. He does think that he has to change his undies every time he goes to the potty. It always makes us laugh. He calls his private parts a "peanut"...  He is just mis pronouncing the proper name, lol!

Lydia makes me laugh lately, because she "knows" what Cassie is saying and what she wants. She and her brother were going to their Grandparents this morning and Lydia said, "Sarah (she still calls her Sarah) says, 'Where are those children going today? Are they going to Mimi & Papaw's? I want to go! Yes, I want to go too!'" She'll do a higher pitched voice that's kind of scratchy when she says it. It always makes me smile!

Eli, at this point of this life, loves to answer every question or comment with "Well" and it's a drawn out well. Like, "Weelll..."  He is too funny!

I'm dealing with a severe back & pelvis injury and seeing a chiropractor (Dr. John) for a while now. While I was praying with Lyda at night she said, "Dear Jesus, please help my mommy feel better. Please help Dr. John to make her feel better. Please help Mommy not fall down the stairs again."

We recently dealt with some tornado scares. The other day when it began to rain and we heard a loud crash of thunder, Elijah cried out, "Oh no! Is a tomato going to come and get us?"

At dinner last night, Lydia (very concerned with my back still) said, "I wish I had glasses to see you without your clothes on. Then I could look inside your body and see what's wrong with you."  She is SO sweet & caring... and worried about her Momma!

Elijah was wearing Lydia's house shoes and Lydia said (very whining-like) "Brother.. you're going to stretch my shoes little!"

It's very close to Andy's 30th birthday party. I've been planning a surprise party for him! I have talked with code words in front of the kids. I have spelled out the word "party" and I haven't mentioned his name (that I'm aware of).  The other day, we were all in the car and Andy (out of the blue) says "Guess what guys? My birthday is next week!" and Lydia excitedly replies, "That's right! And you have to leave with Mimi so we can decorate the WHOLE house!" Andy is laughing so hard he can barely see to drive the car and I'm laughing so hard that tears are literally strolling down my face! After we get composed, I turn around to Lydia and say, "Lydia, that was supposed to be a secret" and she whispers back to me, "Mommy? How did Daddy find out it was his birthday??"  This is a moment I hope I never forget!

Lydia and I went to run errands the other day and we had to go by Petsmart to get dog food. She asked me what kind of animals were at Petsmart. I named off several animals.. including guinea pigs. She then asks me if we can get a guinea pig and I told her no, we can't. She said, when Sarah (what she calls our dog, Cassie) dies can we? And I said, "I don't know" and she then asked me, "Mommy, we if pray to Jesus for Sarah to die do you think she will?"  LOL-- all for a guinea pig. I, of course, explained that we didn't want Sarah to die! haha

Elijah loves to make up words. Probably his favorite word right now is "bonkey bobo" and if you ask him if something tastes good or if he likes something. He'll say, "yeah! It tastes like bonkey bobo" He's so funny! I wonder what in the world, "Bonkey bobo" tastes like?!

Lydia has such a big heart! She saw how many pencils she has and she asked if we could send some of her pencils to somewhere else where some kids don't have pencils to use!

July
This month has been a month that Elijah is potty trained!  He rarely sleeps in a pull up and has only occasional accidents! How exciting July is for us!!

Let me tell you how great my God is! Our dryer went out tonight. We don't have $$ for a new dryer! So Andy was working on it and I went to put Lydia to bed and I said, "Let's pray for our dryer & Daddy. Even tho it might seem silly." So, we prayed and when I finished I came out and the dryer was working. Andy said, "I don't know what happened.. it just started working!" I went and told Lydia and she was SO excited. We were both in tears and thanking God!

Lydia and I had gone to a homeschool conference for a few days. We had to pack a lunch, snacks, lots of drinks, school supplies, and my notebook supplies with us each day. At the end of the conference I also received her beautiful artwork! So, my hands were full as I was getting out of the car and heading to the house. Lydia stopped me and said, "Mommy? Can you carry this? Here.. here is this too. Can help you me with this?" As she's handing me thing and after thing. I said, "Heavens to Betsy, Girl!" and then I stooped down to her and joked, "You know who Betsy is, don't you?"  She quickly replied, "Yep! That means 'Oh my!' in Spanish!"

Elijah tags the word "baby" on to everything right now. If he doesn't get what he wants he'll say, "Fooey baby!" If he's trying to get your attention he'll say, "You big ole baby!" Or... as with Andy.. while leaving a cashier after purchasing something he'll turn around and yell, "Bye Baby!" LOL.. Andy  told him to be quiet and quickly exited him out the door! haha

It's the middle of July, and Lydia has (after much practice) learned to snap her fingers!

August

Eli had a little paper boat that he got at church. He brought it to me and said it was for the pirates. I told him I didn't know any pirates and he told me that I could put it in the box outside and the mailman would take it to them. I told him that I needed to know the address before the mail person could send it to them. He said, "They're in a boat with a hat on the top of that thing and they say 'aarrrgh'"

For about 2 days Lydia worked on re-organizing her closet. This was all on her own accord! She was hanging and rehanging all of her clothes, reorganizing & matching them together (eclectically) Oh my! What we have to look forward to! It ended up being a real catastrophe and in the end I had to spend a couple of hours helping her put it all back together!
Elijah has a book about Dumbo that he loves! What I really love is that he thinks his name is "Gumbar" and gets quite distressed if I call him "Dumbo"

Andy's dad had back surgery a couple of weeks ago. Tonight, Eli prays for him something like this, "Jesus, please hear (heal) Pappaw's back. He's got big boo-boo and we need pray for him." Every time he prays this, it makes me smile and my heart melt! What precious children I am blessed with!

We were praying tonight (a week later) and Andy happened to glance up and see Lydia holding her hand over Cassie's eyes. Apparently, she thinks Cassie's eyes need to be closed too during prayer time!

My friend, Rachel, texted me and told me she wouldn't be able to make it to choir practice. I said, "Aww that's too bad" outloud. The kids came and said, "What's wrong Mommy?" I told them, "Ms. Rachel has lost her voice and can't come to choir practice now." They both looked at me and laughed. Lydia put her hands on her hips and said, "Mommy? Are you teasing us?"

I was folding laundry and Lydia went and put one of my dresses on. She pulled it up and started spinning around. Elijah said, "Sissy, you look like an angel!"

I was cleaning up some toys in Eli's room before bedtime. I picked one up and it was wet. I asked him if he had been playing in the sink (in the bathroom) with it. He told me no. It was a hollow truck and I asked him how it got wet. He shrugged his shoulders and said, "I don't know". So, I asked him again and he admitted, "I pee-peed in it." I have to admit... this made me speechless.

Fall Time (memories)

Lydia asked me when we get to Heaven what will we do there? I told her we can run and play and see streets of gold and the crystal sea! We get to see Jesus and praise Him! She asked, "We really get to see Jesus?" and I told her yes!! I also told her that we can eat and eat and never be fat & unhealthy! She really liked that idea and asked if we can have candy. So I told her we can! She said, "What happens when the candy is gone?" I told her that doesn't happen in Heaven. She said, "What about when the bowl is empty? What then?" I told her the bowl never gets empty in Heaven. She was so excited and said, "Well, when I get to Heaven I am going to eat candy and look at Jesus all the time! That's all I'm going to do!" So precious!!

December

Lydia and Elijah are pretending to get married to eachother (lol) when Eli says, "Hey Sissy, wait! After we get married... Wanna go to Chuck E Cheese?" Now what woman wouldn't want that on her wedding day? LOL!!! :c)

I do a little devotion with the kids several times a week. One day this week we were talking about taking our worries to Jesus and that we don't have to worry because Jesus is in control. As I asked the children what they worried about Elijah told me he is afraid of thunder & lightning. I asked him, "Where can you go when you feel worried about that?" He answered, "Umm.. I go to Mommy's room!" I said, "Yes, you do! Where else can you go?" He replied, "To Mimi's house?" I said, "Well, yes that's true too, but when you feel worried you can go to Jesus!" He quickly said, "I can't go up there.. it's thunder & lightning up there!"

Christmas Eve!
It's Christmas Eve and after it was getting late and they kids were still up... we told the kids that Santa wouldn't come until they were asleep. So this is how our evening went: Elijah runs to bed and yells, "Mommy! Daddy! You have to get in bed. Mommy! Come check me.. I'm sleeping! Mommy.. have you seen me? I'm in bed... sleeping! ..... SISSY!!! You have to get in bed or Santa's not coming! SISSY??? Are you in bed yet?" LOL-- he had us cracking up!! We have 2 excited little children.. and Lydia is waiting up for Santa this year! haha! I love this!!! Such sweet memories!!!

The children were nestled all snug in their beds!

As we took down our Christmas decorations they were really sad! Lydia kept asking why we were taking "this" down or "that" down with each new thing we put back into boxes. Elijah went up to Andy (who was taking down most of the decorations) and began hitting him and shouting, "No Daddy! Bad Daddy!" As Andy sat down and talked with him he asked Elijah, "Are you sad?" and Eli lost it and started sobbing and shook his head, yes. It's interesting how no matter the emotion with little boys it always shows itself as physical in the beginning!

Lydia & Elijah love to talk about when they get to Heaven! We were in the car and Elijah says, "I don't want to go to Heaven & die. I want to go on a rocket ship" Lydia said, "But you won't have a new body if you go on a rocket ship!! Don't you want a new body?" and he said, "I don't need a new body. My body's not hurt!" and she said, "Well, Mammaw is in Heaven with her new body and she's getting to eat all the candy she wants to and still be healthy!"
